Wow I can't believe it! That was really fast. In my previous post, I ranted about Sony charging an extra fee to not install a bunch of junk on a laptop. Apparently there was such a media uproar that Sony decided to retract that fee and do it for free.

Sony has actually done something right for a change. True, they did it because of media pressure, but they still did it!

Computing is now safe again for freedom loving people everywhere.

Too bad about DT, isn't it? My dad lived in DT when he went to BYU! I guess it was time to knock the place down.

This is Rebecca, by the way. I haven't yet figured out how to comment here with some kind of viable identity.

Check out Rebecca's blog http://rebeccajcarlson.blogspot.com to see a brick from V-hall. DT has met the wrecking ball.

I wonder what's next...

( ) $179 - Install safe Li-ion batteries from another manufacturer...

;-)

( ) $79 - Written apology for screwing up the marketing of the Beta video format.

I could list the way they handled MD-players(made a SCSI-based MD-players where you couldn't copy music from your PC... And data needed different MDs... ), MemorySticks(Who uses them beside Sony?), UMD movies...
Rootkitted CDs...
Sony brand Zippo batteries...
(Did you know that the ill-fated Apple Powerbook 5300, often dubbed the 'HindenBook' because of its unfortunate tendency to burst into fire, also used Sony Li-ion cells?)

Sometimes you wonder how thy manage to stay in business...

WHAA--???? They actually did something right? That's un-flushing-believable! I never thought it was possible. Now we just gotta get Microsoft to do the same.
