*siiigggghhh....*

Our year-old male cat has been missing for two weeks. After being gone for a week, I feared the worst, but still hoped that he would show up at our back door some morning.

However, yesterday, a neighbor found a black cat paw (just the paw) out behind her backyard fence. We had secretly feared that he had been caught by the coyotes that come around at night, and it looks like that's what might have happened.

My poor boys were heartbroken, and both Bryce and Jeffrey fell asleep with us in our bed last night (never done that before).

Poor Maxxie... I hope he didn't suffer.

OO oh god *gasp* Your cat is in my prayers T. I know how you feel. When my dogs ran away one day, the son named came back all hurt and the mother got raped by those Coyotes. The Mother didn't look so good and lost her mind when she gave birth and try to kill her other son name Nicky.

Don't give up hope. It could be some other cat. I bet anything your cat is ok.

I appreciate the sentiment, Richard, I really do. I don't dare hope he's still alive, though; he's never stayed out for more than a night at a time. After missing him for two weeks, and now this, we're pretty sure he's gone.

It's hard--he was such a friendly cat, one who loved to lick any part of your body he could get close to (face, fingers, elbow, ankles, etc.). Most of the time, he would sleep with my son on his bed.

That's so hard. When Cecily, our gray cheek got sick and I had to put her down, Brandon had a really hard time. He had to take her photo to class and he cried a lot. I know Bryce was having a really hard time last night while at scouts. It's tough to lose a pet. Sending positive vibes out to you guys.

Thank you, Kim. It's nice to hear that from you, with Cecily's passing so recent.

Brandon also wrote a letter to Cecily which we buried with her. He wanted a short ceremony and we held one which was led by him. He got the idea from going to his grandpa Rapier's funeral back in March. I didn't think he was really understanding it at the time, but boy was I wrong. The following week he put flowers on her grave. Right now he has her photo framed in his room. I think this really helped give him closure.

That's why I"m very afraid to let my cat out of my sight. I'd be heartbroken if my kitty wasn't there to greet me when I came home. Shrag let's his cat out all the time, and I just don't understand how you can do that. *shrugs and hugs you* I hope your kitty turns up ok.

That's dreadful.

I think something like that must have happened around here to a wild cat, because we've found out that there's a very small kitten hiding in our carport and is very frightened and hungry.

Any ideas for capturing it?

I would leave a bowl of food out for it, so that at least it wouldn't starve, and possibly start feeling comfortable enough to come out of hiding while you're there.
